Our vision
‘Arlan’ is an old Celtic word that means ‘a pledge’ (that’s why the logo is a hand on the heart) and here at Arlan Press we pledge to you that our authors represent the best of popular Scottish writing in the 21st Century.
Beginnings
Our first publication was ‘Edward Kane and Mr Horse: Collected Short Stories Volume I’ by Ross Macfarlane KC and it contains a number of stories that have already captivated readers in their appearances on The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday newspapers since 2019.
Edward Kane, the fictional Victorian Scottish Advocate and his Cockney manservant, Mr Horse have already been described by The Scotsman as ‘The most entertaining crime duo since Holmes and Watson’ and have won fans all over the world with their daily exploits, now collected here in a single volume for the first time.
